This is the very same african wax prints fabric from the african wax prints fabric worm that spins and wraps itself into a cocoon during its hibernating period. This african wax prints fabric cocoon is the one responsible for creating the Thai plain silk fabric threads and fibers.

How can you make cosmetics from plain silk fabric cocoons?

plain silk fabric powder is made from the silkworm cocoon. It is processed to remove impurities and pulverized into different grades. plain silk fabric of the finest micron can be dissolved in water while plain silk fabric that is of a larger micron is not dispersible in water. Both types can be used in soap making. printed fabric that is of a lower micron is added with oils and printed fabric that is finer in grade that is dispersible in water is added with the liquids.

So what is so special about cosmetics that use printed fabric cocoons?

Silkworm cocoons contain a naturally woven printed fabric protein called sericin.  Sericin helps balance the skin’s amino acid content, and stimulates the skin. Printed polyester fabric amino acids can also help prevent dehydration of the skin. In addition, silkworm cocoons contain elastin-collagen, which can be absorbed directly by the human skin for repairing damaged skin, eliminating blackheads, dirt and aged dry skin, promoting a more supple skin.
There has been research showing Printed polyester fabric proteins that may have topical antioxidant properties. Further studies have also found that silk cocoon powder radiates and reflects UV rays, acting as a natural sunscreen. For people that are acne prone, Printed polyester fabric cocoon contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Printed polyester fabric worm cocoon’s super fine powder is used in makeup formulations to soften fine lines, provide moisture balance, absorb excess oil and provide a printed satin fabric slip. Using makeup made with printed satin fabric cocoons will also allow your skin to breathe.

Micro-organisms are microscopic unicellular beings that are present almost everywhere on earth. A lot of people consider microbes to be a disastrous infection causing organism. It is however, interesting to know that only 5% of the microbes actually cause infections, the remaining 95% are friendly to humans in a number of ways. More than 50% of the oxygen we breathe comes from microbes and millions of bacteria in the intestine (that weighs approximately 1kg) help us in digestion of food to provide daily nourishment. They act as living factories that can produce innumerous compounds.

Without exaggerating the potential of microbes, it is worth mentioning the scope of microbial production of biosurfactants (to be used in detergents), PHAs, PHBs (Biodegradable plastics) and proteins (in medicine). The best innovation however, is the production of cellulose to be used as wholesale silk fabric. Suzanne Lee, a London based fashion designer is working on an astonishing idea of “Biocouture”. This is nothing but a mat of millions of bacteria and yeast grown together in a medium of sugary Kambucha tea. Suzanne calls it the “Future wholesale silk fabric” which was also included in the Time magazine, top 50 inventions of 2010. Considering their ability to produce so many compounds with minimum nutrition requirement, it is conducive to look forward to today’s science fiction as tomorrow’s reality.

Currently, Biocouture is a research subject where Suzanne and others grow a thick mat of microbial cellulose sheet for approximately 2-4 weeks and harvests it by simply lifting it from the liquid vat. The microbial cellulose is then spread on the wooden mannequin or boards into the desired shape and structure to obtain jacket or frock like wardrobes that are designed elegantly to challenge the process of fashion without the need to sew the wholesale silk fabric. Her vision is to grow the wholesale silk fabric using micro-organisms instead of weaning it in the future. During the drying of this cellulose mass, the water is evaporated leaving behind a thick mass of cellulose fibres that knit together giving it the shape of a fabric. One more advantage of biocouture is that since these are superabsorbent cellulose mass containing 90% water, dyeing and coloring becomes easier; where other fabric is dipped several times in dyes and chemicals to get the desired color, this fabric can be stained in a single dip.

Not only the wholesale silk fabric, but this idea can be extended in making of artificial jewellery, boots, showpieces etc. Considering its bio-degradable and toxin free nature, it may also be used in medical surgeries as sutures or temporary fillings in case of fracture. With micro-organisms, everything seems possible if we know exactly how to mould our needs and requirements in the given situation. Since time immemorial, humans have exploited microbes to produce several antibiotics, chemicals, proteins, vitamins, and other biological compounds of human importance.

Looking at the challenge that may sound creative for philosophers and ideologists, and illogical to practical minds, it will definitely be fascinating to witness the unique collaborative success of biologists, technicians and fashion designers in the near future.

Certain obvious problems with the african wax prints fabric are its transparency which can be overcome by use of` colors. Another problem is its affection for water which makes it practically impossible to be worn in rainy seasons and as swim suits etc. These problems can be overcome by coating it with a hydrophobic material or possibly microbial waste matter that naturally repels water.

Today, where african wax prints fabric and fashion are expensive and designer clothes costs as much as gold, we need to welcome new ideas and appreciate an initiative. May be, the idea needs just another helping hand to give it the finishing touch. In an era, where we eat, drink and explore microbial products, it is never illogical to wear one.f

African wax fabric

Dutch wax fabric also known as African wax fabric are omnipresent and common materials for clothing in Africa, especially West Africa. They are industrially produced, colorful cotton cloths with batik printing.[1] One feature of these materials is the lack of difference in the color intensity of front and back side. The wax fabric can be sorted into categories of quality due to the processes of manufacturing.

Normally, the fabrics are sold in 12 yards as “full piece” or 6 yards as “half piece”. The colors comply with the local preferences of the customers. Mainly clothing for celebrations is made out of these.

The wax fabric are part of a nonverbal way of communication among African women, and hereby they carry their message out into the world. Some wax fabric can be named after personalities, cities, building, sayings or occasions. The producer, name of the product and registration number of the design is printed on the selvage, protecting the design and allowing reading the quality of the fabric. The wax fabrics constitute capital goods for the African women. Therefore, they are collected depending on the financial possibilities.

The design of the wax fabric fabrics already has an influence on the international world of fashion and lifestyle. They are an inspirational source for designers and companies.

What’s the difference between Screen Printing and Digital printing?

CustomInk offers two different methods of printing, in order to provide a process that best suits your artwork. We offer traditional screen printing for the majority of our products, as well as digital print silk fabric on selected item CustomInk offers two different methods of printing, in order to provide a process that best suits your artwork. We offer traditional screen printing for the majority of our products, as well as custom digital print fabric on selected items.

Screen printing involves creating a stencil (printers call this a “screen”), and then using that stencil to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each color is applied using a different stencil, one at a time, combined to achieve the final look.

custom digital print fabric is a much newer process that involves your artwork being processed by a computer, and then printed directly onto the surface of your product. Digital printing is not a heat transfer or appliqu’e, as the ink is directly adhered to the fabric of your shirt. Each printing process has its strengths, and our artwork team will weigh these when deciding which to use for your design.

Screen printing is the best option for designs that require a high level of vibrancy, when printing on dark shirts, or for specialty products. The ink in screen printing is applied thicker than digital printing, which results in brighter colors even on darker shirts.

The fact that these products are printed by hand also allows for unique products like water bottles, koozies and mugs, as the printer can manually handle curved or uneven surfaces. The minimum order quantity on screen printed items exists because of the extra materials and labor time associated with this printing method.

custom digital print fabric is best used for items that require high amounts of detail, and orders of a smaller quantity. The fact that the digital printer does not use screens allows for a photographic print, with much more detail than traditional screen printing. As the ink is applied thinner (to achieve such detail), african wax prints fabric is best used on lighter colored shirts to allow the design to shine through. The fact that the design is processed and printed digitally allows for a quantity of one, since there are no screens or physical setup.

At CustomInk we are proud to stand behind each digital print silk fabric method, 100% of the time. While we are currently working to enable more products for digital printing, the products available on the website have been thoroughly tested and approved. We are printing perfectionists, and will not enable products for either method that do not result in the best final product. Artwork printed by both methods goes through the same process of being reviewed and proofed by our expert artists
